SABIS International School - Ruwais Syllabus

SABIS schools utilise the SABIS Point System based on identifying objectives referred to as “points” for each lesson and engaging in communities of learners.

The curriculum at SABIS International School, Ruwais, outlines daily learning objectives across all grade levels. By encouraging an environment that nurtures a lifelong passion for learning, students are guided on effective study techniques and provided with the support necessary for establishing a solid and robust academic foundation.

All courses for students at all levels are structured to allow students and teachers to know precisely what should be learned. Teachers teach one concept at a time using the SABIS Point System, with each lesson alternating between oral work, individual work, and group work.

KINDERGARTEN (KG1 - GRADE 1)

The curriculum at SABIS International School, Ruwais, specifies daily learning goals for all students. Students from first grade onwards are taught through the SABIS Point System. This method identifies measurable objectives, referred to as points, for each lesson. In this system, teachers demonstrate one point, and then students work together in small groups to check each other's work.

A group leader helps with questions and gives extra explanations if necessary. When the whole class has understood the point well, the teacher continues with the lesson.

PRIMARY - INTERMEDIATE - HIGH SCHOOL (GRADES 2-12)

Courses at SABIS International School, Ruwais, specify a minimum requirement of "units of information" for students to grasp. This encompasses fundamental concepts tested by the AMS, a computerised system for academic tracking, along with basic questions that assess essential knowledge.

Starting in Grade 4, the curriculum at SABIS International School, Ruwais, incorporates additional material to challenge more adept students. Further details can be provided upon request for interested parents.

How to Apply for SABIS International School, Ruwais, Abu Dhabi - Step-by-Step Process

To take admission into SABIS International School, Ruwais, follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Online Application Form

In order to begin the admissions process at SIS-Ruwais, parents are required to complete and submit the student online application form on the official website. Alongside the application, you will be required to provide certain documents:

  • Copy of student and parents' passports

Step 2: Testing

  • Students in KG 1 - Grade 2 will sit for an interview via video conference as a step of the admissions process.
  • Students applying to Grades 3 - 12 will be assessed through online diagnostic tests as part of the admissions process. Upon completion, the diagnostic tests are marked, and the school makes a decision upon placement.
  • Appointments for interviews and tests are coordinated with parents after a complete online application has been provided.

Step 3: Admission Decisions

Admission decisions are made after careful evaluation of candidates. The results of diagnostic testing and previous school records are considered in a case-by-case scenario. Additional criteria for admission can include motivation, social and emotional development, willingness to work hard, and the ability of SIS Ruwais to accommodate the needs of a candidate.

Once accepted, the required fees will be processed via online bank transfers. When proof of payment is shared with the school, a place for the student is reserved.

Step 4: Non-Selective Admission Policy

The SABIS Educational System serves to be academically oriented without being highly selective. The criteria for acceptance are based on academics, not only on age. Although age functions as a partly limiting factor, three-year age ranges can exist in the same class.

There are no academic criteria for acceptance into levels KG and G 1 (3 to 5 years of age). Prospective students at these levels are interviewed, should be toilet-trained, and must be able to follow basic instructions.

All other students take diagnostic tests in their main subjects. These tests help examine the minimum academic standards that need to be met. The school then makes final placement decisions but can resort to various approaches to help raise students to the required level. For instance, there is the option of attending summer school or extra classes in a subject.
