Mall of Emirates

Dubai Hotel Bookings

This stunning Dubai shopping mall is a multi-level shopping mall, featuring 7900 parking spaces, over 100 restaurants, and cafes, 250 flagship stores, 80 luxury stores, and more than 630 retail outlets. Owned and developed by Majid Al Futtaim Properties which is located at the interchange of the Sheikh Zayed Road.

This mall became functional in the year 2005 and includes variant leisure and recreational activity zones including the Ski Dubai, a Community Theatre and Arts Centre with a capacity of 500 seats, and the magic planet, which is one of the largest entertainment centers in Dubai. The mall is spread on a total gross area of 255,489 sqm and it would be an understatement to just call this a mall.

The architect of the project was by an American Architectural firm, F+A Architects along with the contract being handled by A mall that might’ve looked hefty on drawings, took shape, and was launched in October 2003 with an estimated cost of 800 million AED. The structure steelworks and the chair lifts were handled by the Emirates Building system and the piling was done by Bauer.

Concept and Planning

The main concept of the mall was to unleash the access barriers for the user groups and make it more accessible, viable, and inclusive of brands and varieties. And this was not it, the architects and the construction team did something that was unexpected and would’ve required a lot of power.

The mall was constructed on top of another existing mall and acted as an extension of the existing structure and was declared as a “triumph of engineering and design” by Faud Sharaf.

This Dubai properties also offers a mall valet parking experience, which is in the Central Galleria and near the Fashion Dome, along with direct access to the Dubai Metro. The mall also tends to feature two 5-star hotels, which is also linked to the new extension.

The mall also features 1300 shaded parking spaces along with a dedicated entrance and a cab facility adjacent to the Ski Dubai venue.

Construction

Standing on its built-up area of 30 acres on the shore of a man-made lake, the Mall of Dubai is a 1.1 million sqm mall, bearing 4-storeys capacitating retail, recreational, and leisure facilities.

The mall’s parking space is something that speaks its volume, encompassing ten-story parking, lodging 14,000 parking spaces, the 10 million liter aquarium (world’s largest aquarium), two concert music stages, fashion runways, 22screen mega-Cineplex, NHL/IHL Ice link, and 23 water fountains.

In order to keep the mall fully operational and functional in the entire process, the construction of the mall had to be framed out accordingly which included coming up with a workable plan, allowing all the existing services and system to sustain in the process.

One of the astonishing things about the construction of the mall is that while the construction was ongoing, nothing could be disconnected from the existing structure, from the temporary services to the lighting accents and the functionality of the retail stores. This was one of the prime challenges.

Implementation of crash-decks was done to keep the public access separate and ineffective.

The construction process had to coincide with the original idea by Majid Al Futtaim and all the planning done was sensitive to the extension and other adjustments had to be made further as well.

Highlights of the Mall

The mall not just features luxury retail stores, cinema complex like any other mall, but has taken Entertainment and dining to another level:

  • Ski Dubai is one of the most popular spots to have an incredible experience for a lifetime.
  • The ground floor of the mall features the latest fashion to interactive shows
