We all have been dreaming of that dreamy vacation since the Covid lockdowns, and our prayers are getting answered with the increase in vaccination numbers and decrease in cases. Whenever one needs to finalize the perfect destination for a leisure trip, one of the most loved places that crossed our minds are Dubai, Sharjah, or Abu Dhabi.
So, for those who are planning a Dubai tour anytime soon? Or visiting the incredible places of Emirates like Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Well then! among the plethora of Abu Dhabi and Dubai tourist places that are going to naturally fill you with excitement, it will not be of any use until and unless you are properly vaccinated! There are several COVID vaccination guidelines that are being stringently implemented and chief amongst them is the development of vaccination centers for all tourists.
UAE (United Arab Emirates) health authorities have already officially released their complete list of the COVID vaccination clinics and other hospitals where residents may get their vaccination procedure completed. The voluntary initiative started with Abu Dhabi and now covers both the Northern Emirates and Dubai. Residents can readily register under the same for getting access to free vaccines. Various kinds of vaccines are also being used throughout the campaign for inoculation. The Sinopharm vaccine, for instance, is being given through two injections which are administered in a gap of 21 days for people who are 3 years of age and more. As per regulators in the UAE, Sinopharm, developed in China, has efficacy levels of 86% and has been approved for usage post Phase 3 trials which vindicated the findings. 31,000 people were involved in the trials that took place all over the country.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority has also confirmed that an additional Sinopharm dose will be provided to those completing more than 6 months after their second vaccine dose. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is also being provided with two doses being administered over a gap of 21 days. Pfizer-BioNTech was approved for usage for citizens from 12 years onwards earlier and the vaccines are being administered for those between 12-15 years of age at the Al Barsha, Al Mizhar, and Zabeel Primary Healthcare Centres along with the Hatta Hospital and Latifa Women and Children Hospital. 6 DHA health centers will be providing the vaccination to patients in other eligible categories. Apart from the earlier names, the list will also include the Uptown Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre as well.
Key Updates and Developments
Those patients who had contracted coronavirus earlier will not have to wait for 3 months to get the vaccine as per current regulations. They will now get it upon finishing their isolation period, provided the infection was of a non-symptomatic or mild nature. Yet, those who are participating in Phase III of the clinical trials or have received a multiple/single dose of any other coronavirus vaccine and children under the age of 12 are not a part of the campaign. Dubai tourists should note that AstraZeneca is not always available in the Emirate. But as for pregnant women, there are several protocols that need to be followed, and plus pregnant women were vaccinated from 29th June 2021, onwards by the DHA. You can simply book and pre-register for vaccination at DHA centers. Pregnant women should of course consult their doctors before getting jabbed. The vaccine in this case will be the one from Pfizer and it is only recommended after 13 weeks of the pregnancy.
COVID vaccination is being done by SEHA (Abu Dhabi Health Services Company) for the capital of the UAE and it is administering both Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines. It is available to everyone with the exception of people participating in Phase III of the trials, those who have got any dose of any other vaccine such as children under the age of 12 and pregnant women. You should always have an Emirates ID and health insurance or healthcare card upon arriving at the vaccination center. Abu Dhabi has already confirmed that anybody with an expired entry visa or residency may also get the vaccine absolutely free of cost. The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee has already recommended the expansion of ISTIJABA emergency call centers for offering pandemic-related information for everyone.
